What is Wireless Broadband?
Wireless Broadband is the next generation of Internet access, offering high speed Internet access that is permanently connected. There are no wires and you do not require a telephone line to receive the service. No more wondering whether your phone line is working and no worries about charges for dial up.

How do I sign up and what is the order process?

You can visit our office or call the Sales Team on 022 228441, +232 76 801423 or +232 76 888887 between the hours of 9:00am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday.

  • Choose the Limeline Broadband product that best suits your needs and begin the registration process.
  • Fill in the Application Form to create a Limeline account.
  • Pay for equipment and the first month's fee.
  • Agree a date with the Sales Team when our engineer can visit your office or home to complete the installation – usually within two working days.

What do I get when I sign-up?

In order to receive the Internet Broadband service you will need specific Broadband hardware which is supplied by Limeline. The modem pack includes the following items:

  • A Wireless Broadband Modem which is mounted on an outside wall.
  • RJ45 cable to connect to your Ethernet port.

What do I need in order to be able to use Broadband?

Your will need a Desktop or Laptop PC with the following minimum specifications:

  • Pentium II.
  • 64MB RAM – 128MB is preferred.
  • Two speed CD-ROM drive or faster.
  • Video card/display 800 x 600, 256 colours.
  • 100MB free on your computers hard drive.
  • Operating System: Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP. Mac OS 8.0 or later with Open Transport 2.6.2.
  • A Network Port (Ethernet).
  • If your desktop or laptop is not fitted with either a USB port or a Network port, the appropriate PC cards can be supplied on special order.

If you have more than one computer connected to the service, we recommend you connect it to the fastest computer you have.

How is my Wireless Broadband installed?
Once you have signed up to Limeline, one of our engineers will visit your office or home at a convenient time to undertake the simple equipment installation.

How reliable is the service?
We pride ourselves on providing an extremely reliable service, in fact, we guarantee it will be available 99.5% of the time. We have a fully redundant system in Freetown, so in the unlikely event of failure, any faulty equipment can be replaced immediately with a minimum of disruption.

Does the weather affect the service?
Wireless links are sometimes affected by heavy rain and bad weather, but our technology has built in systems to overcome the affects by bad weather by increasing the power output of the base station.

Where can I use the service?
Our initial installation covers most of Freetown, but we look forward to providing the same high speed internet service in the provinces in the near future.

How and when will I be billed for Broadband?
All charges for Limeline Broadband are paid monthly in advance by the 1st of each month, at Limeline’s offices. If your payments are late, we will suspend your service unless you have made special arrangements with us beforehand. There is a $40 re-activation fee for late payments. Discounts will be available to those who choose to pay half-yearly or annually in advance.

Will I be charged for phone calls?
You do not use the telephone to connect to the service, but you can use the Internet to make free calls to colleagues, friends and family all over the world. If you need to call conventional landlines or mobile telephones, you will need to sign up to a VoIP provider. You can make calls to the US and Europe as little as a few cents a minute.

Can I suspend the service if I go away on holiday or will I still be charged the monthly access charge?
The minimum term for Limeline Broadband is 12 months. If you give us two weeks advance notice in writing, you may choose to suspend service no more than twice during that twelve months, but the suspended time will be added to the length of your contract.

What is the procedure if I want to move house or office?
If you are moving your Broadband service to another address you should submit your new details to us in writing. Your Internet service should work uninterrupted. We suggest you give us as much notice as you can and we will check the signal strength and if possible carry out any work needed before you move in. Clients are required to pay a relocation fee of US$50. If the location of your new house has no wireless signal at all, we shall have no option but to cancel your contract.

What is the procedure if I want to upgrade my Broadband account to a faster speed?
An upgrade or downgrade from one Broadband service to another can be undertaken by applying directly to Limeline’s offices. This process can take up to 7 working days from the point of submission.

Can I connect more than one computer to the Internet with Limeline Broadband?
Limeline can provide technical assistance for networking your computers. We can recommend an IT contractor to assist with any networking requirements, including installing a Wi-Fi network in your office or home.

How can I protect my computer from getting a virus? Has my computer been infected?
It is very important to have Anti-Virus software on your computer. If your computer contracts a virus this could lead to email problems, intermittent connection and an array of other problems, including a complete system crash. Sometimes it is not obvious that your computer is infected, instead you might think it is a problem with your Internet Service Provider. We recommend you purchase software from companies such as Norton or use a free anti-virus program from AVG. The security of your PC is your responsibility.

What happens if my Broadband Modem is damaged, stolen or lost?
Each modem has a distinct MAC address which is registered on the Limeline network and it will not work on any other network. Only modems with valid MAC addresses can receive the service. If your modem is damaged, lost or stolen, you should notify Limeline immediately in writing and the service will be suspended. You will be responsible to pay for any network time lapsed up to the time you notify Limeline in writing. If you wish to continue using the Limeline service, you will be required to purchase a new modem at the published price. If you do not wish to continue the service you will be required to pay one month’s notice.
